Ever Last Coating Specialties
Our Professional Floor Coating Installation Process
Our floor coating installation process delivers professional results through meticulous surface preparation, advanced coating systems, and owner-installed craftsmanship. Whether you're getting a one-day floor coating for your garage or a multi-surface project in central or southwest Minnesota, here's how it works from initial contact to final inspection.
Our Methodology in 5 Steps
1. Free Consultation & Assessment
We visit your property to assess the condition of your concrete, discuss your needs, and provide a detailed estimate with no obligation.
2. Surface Preparation
Diamond grinding creates the proper Concrete Surface Profile (CSP) while moisture testing identifies potential issues before coating.
3. Repair & Prime
We address cracks, divots, and surface damage, then apply a primer to ensure optimal adhesion of the coating system.
Step 4: Coating Application
Multiple layers of our polyurea/polyaspartic system are applied. These layers cure quickly, enabling same-day project completion.
Step 5: Final Inspection & Warranty Activation
Every completed floor undergoes quality inspection before the 15-year warranty against chipping, peeling, and delamination begins.
Quality Work Starts With a Proven System
Here's a detailed look at what makes our garage floor coating installation different and why proper execution at each stage determines whether your floor lasts for the long haul.
Thorough Surface Evaluation
Before any work begins, we assess your concrete’s age, condition, moisture levels, and existing coatings. This evaluation determines the prep methods needed and identifies potential issues that could compromise adhesion. We conduct calcium chloride or relative humidity testing when moisture concerns exist.
Professional Surface Preparation
We use diamond grinding equipment to mechanically profile the concrete, creating the texture necessary for coating adhesion. This step removes contaminants, opens the concrete’s pores, and achieves the correct CSP rating. Corners, edges, and hard-to-reach areas receive hand grinding to ensure complete coverage.
Crack & Damage Repair
Control joints, expansion cracks, and surface divots are filled with flexible repair compounds that move with the concrete. We address problems properly so they don't telegraph through the coating or cause future failure.
Primer Application
A specialized primer is applied to seal the concrete and provide maximum adhesion for the topcoat system. Primer selection depends on concrete porosity, age, and environmental conditions.
Base Coat & Flake Application
Our Valence polyurea/polyaspartic base coat is applied evenly across the entire surface. Decorative color flakes are broadcast into the wet coating for texture, slip resistance, and aesthetic appeal. Flake density and colors are customized based on your preference.
Top Coating AND Sealing
After the base coat cures, we apply a clear polyaspartic topcoat that seals everything, provides UV protection, and creates the final glossy or matte finish. This layer delivers the chemical resistance, abrasion protection, and easy-clean surface you expect.
Quality Control & Cure Time
We inspect the completed installation for uniform coverage, proper flake distribution, and finish quality. Most floors are ready for light foot traffic within hours and full use within 24 hours, delivering a one-day floor coating experience.
Frequently Asked Questions About Our Process
How long does the installation actually take?
Most residential garage floors are completed in 6-8 hours. Larger spaces, extensive repairs, or multi-room projects may require additional time. We provide accurate timelines during your assessment.
Do I need to move everything out of my garage?
Yes. The space needs to be completely empty for proper surface preparation and coating application. We can work around permanent fixtures like water heaters, but vehicles, storage, and movable items must be relocated.
Can you work in cold weather?
We can install year-round in enclosed, climate-controlled spaces like garages and basements. Outdoor patio coatings are seasonal (spring through fall) due to temperature and humidity requirements for proper curing.
When can I park my car on the new floor?
Light foot traffic is safe within 12-24 hours. We recommend waiting 48-72 hours before parking vehicles to allow full cure and maximum durability.
Do you offer different finish options?
Yes. Choose from various color flake combinations and finish levels (high gloss, satin, or matte). We'll show you options during consultation and can match your preferences.
